Search & Recovery Diver
At some point you or a buddy will lose something underwater, be it a piece of dive gear from a boat or a phone, sunglasses or wallet from the dockside, and you will probably want it back. If so, then the Search and Recovery course will give you the knowledge to do so.

What will you learn?
There is more than one method you can use to search for items underwater, and once you have found what you are looking for, there is also more than one way to raise it to the surface, all of which can take place in a wide variety of diving conditions. This course will teach you search patterns that are appropriate for the diving conditions and item to be recovered, and various methods that can be used to lift an item to the surface.
During the practical phase you will learn:
- Swimming search patterns using your compass and natural navigation
- Locating large and small objects using various search patterns
- Using a lift bag for large or heavy objects, plus other recovery methods
- Planning a search operation based on facts gathered about a lost object prior to the dive
Pre-requisites
- Advanced Open Water or Underwater Navigation Specialty certification from a recognised training agency
- Must have dived within the last 12months or attended an in-water refresher
Course materials
- Search and Recovery online Theory
All of the materials, one theory session, 3 training dives and certification are included in your course fee. Boat fees and equipment rental are not included.
